Ansel Adams, Nadar, Nick Knight

I chose this photograph because of the beautiful contrast in the flower and the almost wood grain like background the abstract lines really bring out the smoothness of the petals of the flower. The light grays leading into the light make the flower look very beautiful. 

The way that the shadow of the hat frames and brings out the face of what would be normally a blown out face is nice it gives it an almost not real or scary look and feel to it. The clothing and the way that it forms to the figure is nice it seems to accent the rest of the body. 

I chose this photograph because of the muted color. The way that the background and the dress have almost the same color is nice. The darkened center where the body is makes the arms stand out much more. 

Thomas Struth, Paul Graham, Johan Emanuelsson

This image caught my eye with the green tones and the way that the branches all lean into one another. the lighting through the trees really brings out some special points and accents the branches of the trees. 

This photograph looks like the average 'collage' life without the party scene. The way that the two people are outside the window makes them seem out of the frame of the photograph, the one guys head is cut off and the other persons face is sort of blurred by reflections. 

The way that the eyes are glowing from the light gives this photograph a very creepy feel to it it also feels like they are more aware of what is in the darkness then the person shooting them 

Week4: Gregory Heisler, Michael Fidler, Dorothea Lang

I am attracted to the selective focus in the image as well as the way this photographer chose to crop the image. It's almost as if he captured a moment in time from this celebrities every day life. The space that is emphasized in the background is beautiful. Also the way that it makes it seem like this person is waiting for some one or that they just left early.

This image is called Gallop with wind. I like how the horse is transparent almost see through and this figure shows repetition in motion. The background blends well with the movement of the horse. The light that hits the shape of the horse is nice as well as the highlights of the grass. Light is a huge source in this assignment.

Dorothea Lange when in California came across a family who had made the decision to try to find a better home. They had left their prior home in Oklahoma and made the long journey to California. They only could find hopeless life existence in a tent. Dorothea is best known for her photographs during the great depression of migratory farm workers. She really captured these people in a hard time with that she captured so much emotion.

This photograph is strong because of its simplicity and the strong color relations. Its also the spacing and the focal point it gives because of the triangle the two objects make in relation to the one thing on the wall. The way that the bricks seem to fade into the left side of the photograph.

I believe this image works very well with the way that all of the lines connect within the image to make every aspect of the photograph come together. The muted colors give the photograph its own feeling that also plays off of how the photograph was composed in the space.

To me this photograph looks like a simple snapshot of what was for lunch, a sort of documentation rather than a photograph that was thought out. The out of focus makes me think it was not that important. To me this photograph does not work out to its potential.

The photograph shown has great contrasting colors. The red in the wall brings your eye strait to the subject of the photograph the man in the window with a blue tint. The way that the window outlines the subject makes the mystery of the photograph pop.
